Smoking cessation treatment service is concerned to be a critical element in methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) in order to diminish the effect of smoke on health outcomes. To implement the smoking cessation services in Vietnam, we examined the stages of change to quit and determined associated factors among MMT patients. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey with 1016 MMT patients in five clinics in Hanoi and Nam Dinh province, of those, 932 (91.7 %) were ever-smokers. Patients were classified into four groups: “pre-contemplation,” “contemplation,” “preparation,” and “action and maintenance” by using the transtheoretical model. Multivariate logistic regression was applied to determine the associated factor for intention and action to quit smoking. Results: Overall, 96 % were not actively trying to quit or maintain abstinence. Age older than 45, HIV-positive status, and residence in Hanoi were negatively associated with intention to quit. Based on near-topotypic specimens of Dixonius vietnamensisfrom Khanh Hoa Province in southern Vietnam genetic anal-yses showed that the recently described D. taoiis sister to D. vietnamensisand several separate forms exist which previ-ously have been misidentified as D. vietnamensis andD. siamensis. The Dixoniuspopulation from Vinh Cuu Nature Reserve, Dong Nai Province, Vietnam, represents an undescribed species. Dixonius minhlei sp. nov.can be distinguished from its congeners based on the following diagnostic characters: small size (up to 47.5 mm SVL); 7–9 supralabials; 14– 15 rows of keeled tubercles on dorsum; 20–23 ventral scale rows; 7 or 8 precloacal pores in males; a canthal stripe running from rostrum through the eye and terminating at back of head; lateral second pair of postmentals maximum one quarter the size of first pair; dorsum olive gray with more or less discernible brownish olive blotches. This is the sixth species of Dixonius known to occur in Vietnam. ...
